Recently, the Dean’s International Council announced on its website that the university had received a landmark $100 million gift from the Pearson Family Foundation. The donation stands as the second largest ever received by the university. The funds will be used to study global conflicts and possible solutions through the establishment of an annual international forum and a research institute, to be called the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts.
University of Chicago president Robert J. Zimmer said that in this era of widespread global strife, such research and analysis will prove useful in crafting effective policy solutions to bring about more peace and security.
